Saleem Ghubril lunch lecture
Saleem Ghubril, Pittsburgh Promise
Pittsburgh Promise Lives in All of Us
The Pittsburgh Promise invigorates Pittsburgh Public Schools, the City of Pittsburgh, the Pittsburgh region, and the Pittsburgh workforce by offering a $40,000 scholarship for every Pittsburgh resident who attends a Pittsburgh public high school for 4 years with a 2.5 GPA average or better and a 90% high school attendance record.. Saleem Ghubril states that “inside every child is a promise, and with the appropriate care, effort, and needed resources, that promise will undoubtedly be fulfilled.”
In 1985, Saleem founded The Pittsburgh Project, a community development organization that annually provides free home renovations to hundreds of vulnerable seniors, and mentors, educates, and deploys thousands of volunteer youth in meaningful community service initiatives. Saleem led The Pittsburgh Project until 2008, when he assumed the leadership of The Pittsburgh Promise.
