Greetings from the HCWPA President...

It's been a busy year for Harvard Club of Western Pennsylvania (HCWPA) members. And now we look forward to launching a new program year, this fall. Please consider joining or renewing your membership today. Your dues are essential to the continued life of the Harvard Club of Western Pennsylvania. Without them we could not carry out many of our program of events, activities, recruitment efforts, engagement with Harvard students from Western Pennsylvania who are currently on-campus.

Our standard one-year HCWPA membership remains a very reasonable $55, which has not changed over the past 10 years, and is effective from September 1, 2026 through August 31, 2027. As a convenience to our members, we are offering several additional membership options which are listed on the last page of this newsletter and on our website. All dues and donations are tax deductible as the Harvard Club of Western Pennsylvania has §501(c)(3) status. Your confirmation will also serve as your tax receipt if needed. Please visit the “Membership” tab and click on “Join” or “Renew”.

For your information, our Schools & Scholarship Committee is currently seeking Harvard alumni who are willing to interview local candidates for admission to Harvard’s Class of 2031. If you have the interest and the time, please feel free to contact the HCWPA Schools & Scholarship Committee Chair, Leigh Argentieri Coogan (Harvard Class of 2010) at coogan.leigh@gmail.com.
 
While our newsletter contains a summary of planned HCWPA events, I encourage you to periodically visit our Eventbrite regarding upcoming events including our first event of the program year – the annual Fall Family Picnic, from 4:30 – 7:30 p.m. on Sunday, September 20, 2026, at O’Hara Township Park - Shelter #1. You can register for events on the website and, as a member of the HCWPA, pay a reduced event fee (or no fee in some cases). In addition, stay tuned for other networking opportunities and fun events throughout the upcoming academic year, including happy hours, supper club nights, community service opportunities and interesting events such as lectures, plays and cultural district performances. Some of our events will be excellent networking opportunities with both Harvard alums and with the broader All-Ivy-Plus community in Pittsburgh).  Our Annual Dinner meeting, at a date to be determined in May 2027, will culminate our program year and will include a guest speaker.
